FALLACY

FALLACY

The contents are still dear and true to heart, but of late, it's obvious that recent post entries are getting increasingly comprised of pictures or videos; while the number of words seems to have dwindled. Perhaps I'm just not into blogging right now. Somehow, there's this nagging perception that blogging is doing more harm than good. Sure, I still enjoy writing, and indubitably, people are able to get the gist of my everyday life through the posts. But honestly? These blog posts are just only tiny weeny bits of quick flashes of my daily affairs. Being on the receiving end, the vibe I get is: "It's okay. I am reading, anyway. I'm still considered up-to-date." Yes, you may be reading. Yes, you may be well-aware of what I hold close to my heart. Yes, you may feel "connected"; because what you're reading about are things concerning the person behind the posts. But the point is: I don't. Through the blog posts, you may feel "updated" and have this false sense of "connection"; but contrary to my perspective, we are no more than acquaintances who barely talk verbally despite meeting regularly once in a while, and might as well be living on separate planets. Therefore, don't be too assumptive. We might NOT necessarily be as close as you may think we are. Please gauge well and get a proper picture of where you stand.

This is a very grave misconception that people, friends even, often wrongly assume; and fail to realize. Communication and rapport are - and always will be - a
two-way thing. Blogging, instead, seems to have defeated the very foundation of effective communication; and being on the receiving end is not an enjoyable feeling. It's kind of disappointing; because personally, I don't see how intimacy and basic trust - even for simple mere friendships - can be built on blog reading, MSN messaging, SMS texting, or anything electronic. It's too superficial. It just lacks of something real, something sincere, something personal, and most importantly, something that's of effort. All these speak volume of the value and importance attached to the relationship. Where you focus on and invest in, there you'll get the results. Similarly, what you neglect, that you'll lose. It's mainly works on the principle of quid pro quo.

The internal form of thoughts and character of people can be so highly individualized that it can never be accurately translated into words that are concrete and easily understood. There are loads of other important, telling areas that are glaringly omitted. Voice tone and body language, for one. Poise and mannerism of conduct, for another. A simple analogy: reading an autobiography is not quite the same as being personal friends with the Prime Minister upfront and enjoying a conversation with the man himself over a cup of Earl Grey.

Anyway, of late, I've been doing more reading than typing. It's just so enjoyable! I really like literature and anything philosophical. Such as Meno by Plato. Or
Love is a fallacy, for example. Even though it's already the umpteen time I've read and re-read it, once in a while, I'll still go back to it. It has never failed to entertain and amuse me. Greatly. Speaking of which, if anyone has any literary recommendations, do kindly keep me updated!
