SHE'S UPSET COS...

... They went on a Biology field trip to Labrador Park this evening and managed to access the rocky shores; at LOW TIDE!

BUT! She doesn't have any cameras to capture all the fantastic pictures of the marine organisms and wildlife.

SUCH A PITY!

Don't talk to me.
Let me mourn.

NO TITLE

Have been wondering about some stuffs for days or weeks. Recently, though, I just thought of something; the content of which might not be appropriate to blog or voice out. She's about to implode!

Anyway, we're going to Labrador Park tomorrow evening! I've never been there before. What a pity I don't own any cameras. The pictures would be awesome. Sigh!

PYGMALION AND THOMAS

Came across something interesting just now while doing my assignment. Pygmalion effect and Thomas Theorem.

Mind-boggling.

DIFFERENT

"Why am I different from others?"

"Why... do you have to be like others?"

SISTER'S KEEPER

"There is way too much to explain - my own blood seeping into my sister's veins; the nurses holding me down to stick me for white cells Kate might borrow; the doctor saying they didn't get enough the first time round. The bruises and the deep bone ache after I gave up my marrow; the shots that sparked more stem cells in me, so that there'd be extra for my sister. The fact that I'm not sick, but I might as well be. The fact that the only reason I was born was as a harvest crop for Kate. The fact that even now, a major decision about me is being made, and no one's bothered to ask the one person who most deserves it to speak her opinion."

- My Sister's Keeper. Jodi Picoult.

Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate - a life and a role that she has never challenged... until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister. So, Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable - a decision that will tear her family apart and possibly have fatal consequences for the sister she loves.

This book is an awesome read! I'm only at page 156 out of the 500-odd pages. Lapping up every page of it.

AGED?

Rashes. Then now, diarrhoea and cold to add on.

The antihistamine pills were noticeably less efficient than the previous prescription's. Perhaps it's because I asked specifically for the non-drowsy ones - to which the doctor agreed obligingly; after cautioning that it is less effective than the usual, drowsy ones (hydroxyzine). To strike a balance, she decided to prescribe a mixture of both - non-drowsy for the day, and drowsy for the night.

I finished the entire one-week-course of medication on Friday. Unlike the first prescription with which the bumps started subsiding on the 4th day, this second prescription hardly had any effect on the existing swellings and bumps. All it did, I guess, is to curb the amount of new bumps from arising. Till today, I still have to contend with the existing ones and wait for them to subside on their own; which is a cruel torture because the itchy hands have a primitive tendency to peel the dry skin or scratch the lil' bumps.

Two days earlier prior to that, on Wednesday morning, an unexpected flu and diarrhoea hit. The nose act like a water tap that morning. Literally. If it were to take part in a marathon, the nose would claim the first prize hands down. The next day, on Thursday, the cold subside and I felt almost healthy again. On Friday, the uninvited guest visited again. It hasn't left as of yet.

The diarrhoea? Don't mention it. Each meal ingested results in tummyaches. Hardly feel like eating these days, save for the occasional snacks of tapioca chips. Last night during service, I was so hungry. The rumbling stomach felt absolutely empty. During dinner though, strangely, I could hardly muster up the interest to eat. Maybe it's because of the stuffed, blocked nose. Or maybe it's because the food looks too heavy. Or maybe it's just that the appetite to eat was simply not there.

This morning, I totally overslept! Was supposed to wake up at 530am, and be at JW at 7am. I ended up only waking at close to 9am. I was so dead; I don't even recall reaching down to pick up the mobile phone from the floor and hitting the snooze button. When I woke up at 9am, I was absolutely surprised to see the room so brightly lit, and was mortified to find the mobile phone next to the pillow.

Anyway, am I getting sick-er as I age, or what?

ALEXANDER

Angels are all around, certainly (by this, I'm referring to the spiritual beings). They exist. The Bible says so. I remember - some years back - reading somewhere in a book about the spiritual realms written by Mary K. Baxter. It states that every single person has an assigned spiritual being who watches out specifically for us. In the spiritual realm, the devil tags one of his evil spirits to a specific person - whose main aim is to specially entice the individual to make the wrong choices, dog his/her steps, and to cause destruction to the individual's life. Likewise, God also assigns to each individual a spiritual guardian angel. Ever heard of the term "devil's advocate"? Does the cartoon portrayal of a small impish devil with forked tail and a winged angel with halo whizzing around the shoulders of a confused person sound familiar?

Fion has always liked the sun. She envisions her guardian angel to be a surfer boy; coupled with a surf board.

Me?

He is tall, lean, well-built, and strong; with flyaway, wind-blown, straight hair. Never mind about the colour - blonde, copper, pepper, auburn, brown, black; it doesn't matter. His razor-sharp gaze is stylishly and partially covered by a curtain of long tresses which would put Zac Efron to shame. High-bridged nose. Thin lips. Well-chiseled jaw. Prominent collarbones. His shoulder is broad and sturdy. His posture is ramrod straight; supported by a pair of long, powerful legs. Both his hands are big and rough, lightly lined with visible veins. His biceps and triceps are well-defined and toned; but not too overly so. His abdomen? A modest rippling washboard.

He dons an impressive but yet simple black tuxedo; complemented with a big black buckled belt and shiny, polished, black leather shoes. No ties or bowties. The first few buttons of the inner shirt are always deliberately left undone. He has this rugged, careless charm surrounding him. His voice, well, I don't know for sure; for he is a real man of deep thoughts but few words. A quiet, imposing charisma that deeply intrigues he possesses. Tied to his back is a big, heavy sword which is comparable to Cloud's in Final Fantasy. He has quite a demeanor to reckon with; reserved but mysterious, soft but imposing, gentle but strong. When the devil and his charges come attacking, he fights them off valiantly. Gallantly. Fearlessly. Fiercely.

I've always nicknamed him the "Tuxedo Knight". Today, however, I just thought of the name "Alexander". It just looks and sounds awe-inspiring. Powerful. Mighty. Heroic. *swoons!*

Someone poke my bubble fantasy and pull me back to Earth, please?

早起的鸟儿有虫吃。。。

Everyone is familiar with the proverb "The early bird gets the worms".

But has anyone considered the other perspective?

早起的虫被鸟吃。

What? True what...

BIBIMBAP-ED

I made Bibimbap (비빔밥) for tonight's dinner. If I like Bulgogi, I LOVE Bibimbap.

Thus far, it is definitely my favourite Korean dish. I adore the harmony of the condiments; the magical way in which the various herbs, spices, veggies, and flavours complement each other into a delectable blend. In addition, the dish is healthy; and the visual aspect is absolu
tely colourful and eye-pleasing. Totally whets ones' appetite!

Carrot. Green onion (scallions). Shiitake mushroom. Enokitake mushroom. Bean sprouts. Minced garlic. Zucchini. Spinach.

Ta-dah!

Furnished with the last ingredient - egg!

I got the recipe off a website set up by a Korean woman. The dish turned out to be truly wonderful! It was even better than what I had hoped for! Absolutely delightful!

The process of cooking is beyond intriguing; the way how the various preparation steps come together, combine, and transform an original, raw ingredient into something tasty.

The best part about cooking your own food that you can tweak the recipe to your taste buds. I'm a fanatic chilli lover, and thus was more generous with the gochujang. I prefer eating healthy; and thus boiled the egg instead of frying it sunny-side up. A garlic enthusiast, I doubled the cloves of garlic. The original recipe had only called for shiitake mushroom (香菇); I threw in enokitake (金针菇) as well.

Good dinner tonight.

I'm feeling healthy already! I've plans to take extra care to eat healthy for, I don't know, the next 2 weeks? Do me a favour: please smack me if you spot me eating/drinking sinful food (with the exception of coffee and milk tea, please). I had 4 cups of coffee on Sunday, and 3 cups of coffee today. Shucks!
